Type Planet Symbols in Windows Computers
Microsoft Windows offers multiple ways to insert these planet symbols. Though these methods work on all Windows based applications, the display may vary based on the application and character encoding you use.
1. Using Alt + Decimal Code
This method works only when you have a separate number pad in your keyboard layout.
- Press the alt key and hold.
- Type the decimal numbers using number pad.
- Leave the alt key.
- For example, alt + 9793 will make an Earth symbol like ♁.
2. Hex Code + Alt X
This method works only in Microsoft Word and you do not need a separate number pad for this.
- Type the hexadecimal code in Word.
- Immediately press alt and then x keys together.
- This will toggle the code into a symbol.
- For example, 2644 + Alt X will produce Saturn symbols like ♄.
Type Planet Symbols in Mac
On macOS, you can either use option key shortcuts or use Character Viewer app.
1. Use Option Key with Unicode Hex Input
- First, change the input method to Unicode Hex Input.
- Hold one of the option keys.
- Type the hexadecimal numbers from the above table for the planet symbol you want to type.
- Leave the option key when you see the symbol.
- For example, option + 2646 will make the Neptune symbol like ♆.
2. Try Character Viewer App
You can use the Character Viewer app in Mac to insert planet symbols in any app.
- Open the app where you want to insert the symbol.
- Go to “Edit > Emoji & Symbols” from top menu.
- This will open Character Viewer app and type the planet name in the search box to filter relevant symbols.
- Double click on the symbol to insert in the cursor’s position.
