Microsoft announced a new Bing search and Edge browser powered by AI to take the search engine world into next level. As per the announcement, the new Bing will use the advanced version of the popular ChatGPT and offers you a chat box instead of traditional search box. If you are excited to test the AI powered Bing search, here is how you can do that.
Open Bing AI Chat Search
Simply open bing.com and you will see the new screen showing with chat box like below.
If you are redirected to normal Bing website, then the new Bing is not available in your country. In this case, click on the three horizontal lines “Settings and quick links” icon showing on top right corner and select “Country/Region” menu.
Select United States or United Kingdom from the list.
Now, you should see the new Bing search with AI chat box on the home page.
Trying Examples with Bing AI Chat
The chat box offers options to type your search query or use voice input or use image search. At this point, most of the queries are answered with a traditional Bing search. If you really want to check the feel and appearance of the chat results, click one of the case studies showing below the chat box. Click on “Try it” button and you will see the modern AI search results.
You will still see the list of search results on the left side and the answer in the chat box on the right side.
Good part is that the citations are marked in the chat results and click the “See more” button to view the complete answer along with the referenced websites.
Joining the Early Access List
At this point, you can’t continue the chat. Clicking on any of the suggested responses showing below the chat answer or clicking the “Let’s chat” button will take you to new Bing’s webpage. It will show you “Chat mode is only available when you have access to new Bing” and click on the “Join the waitlist” button.
Clicking the “Learn more” button here or on the home page will take you to the information section where you can find more cases for trying, read the FAQ and apply for the early access waiting list.
Getting Quicker Access Bing AI Chat
Click on the “Join the waitlist” button and login with your Microsoft account when prompted.
After successfully applied for the waiting list, you will see a message “Great! You’re on the waiting list”. For speeding up the access, click the “Access the new Bing faster” button showing below the message.
You will see two options to set “Microsoft defaults” and install Bing app on mobiles. It looks Microsoft is using the opportunity and push the usage of Bing on the name of early access.
For example, clicking on the “Microsoft defaults” link on Chrome browser will take you to Chrome Web Store and show Microsoft Bing extension. This will set Bing as your default search engine and bing.com as your home page Chrome.
If you are using Safari on Mac, this will open the “Microsoft Bing for Safari” extension.
You can scan the QR code on your Android or iOS mobile to download the Bing app from app store. Clicking on the “Microsoft Bing App” link app in the second point will show you the App Store links for the mobile app.
In fact, when you open the new Bing webpage on mobile, it will ask you to install the Bing app to join the waiting list.
