Google Chrome is one of the advanced browsers on the web with lots of hidden features. When using Google Chrome, some times you may want to take the backup of online content as a PDF file for offline reading. PDF is a great tool that other users on your computer can’t modify easily. Generally, people copy the site content to Word document and then convert it into PDF document. However, you do not need to follow this lengthy process. Chrome browser allows you to convert webpage to PDF in few seconds without any additional plugin or extension.

How to Convert Webpage to PDF in Google Chrome?
The process is very simple and here is the summary of the entire process:
- Open a webpage.
- Launch print dialog box.
- Choose print destination.
- Set page print settings.
- Customize with options.
- Preview the output.
- Click save button to generate PDF.
- Open PDF with default viewer.
Below is the detailed explanation of each step.

Step 1 – Open a Webpage
Open Google Chrome browser and then open the webpage you want to convert into a PDF file.
Step 2 – Launch Print Dialog Box
Press “Control + P” buttons on Windows based PCs and “Command + P” on Mac to open the print dialog box as shown in the above picture. Alternatively, you can also go to “File > Print” menu in order to open the print dialog box.
Step 3 – Select Print Destination
Click on the “change” button under “Destination” section and choose “Print PDF” option.
Step 4 – Choose Print Page Settings
Similar to normal printing, choose the pages to be converted into PDF, portrait or landscape layout, size of the paper and margin.
Step 5 – Use Conversion Options
You can see multiple conversion options on the lower left corner of the print dialog box screen under “Options” section.
- Simply Page – click on this checkbox to remove advertisements and make the PDF content simple in a readable document format.
- Headers and Footers – disable this checkbox to remove header and footer information in PDF.
- Background Graphics – Enable or disable background and other images on the page.
- Selection Only – convert only the selected portion to a PDF file.
Step 6 – Preview PDF Output
For every changes, the PDF output will be reloaded on the preview pane so that you can view the live preview.
Step 7 – Save Webpage to PDF File
Click on the “Save” button to save the PDF file to you local PC or Mac.
Step 8 – Additional Options
Print Using System Dialog
You can convert the webpage to PDF using the system default print dialog box instead of using Chrome browser’s print dialog box. This will show default options like border, paper size, orientation, etc.
Open PDF in Default Viewer
On Mac you will see this option as “Open PDF in Preview”. Clicking on this link will directly open the PDF version of the webpage in Preview application. By using this option you can open the PDF version without clicking on “Save” button. Once the PDF is opened, you can save to local hard drive and check file content.
Note: Some websites prevent using right click to copy the content. You can use this method to download the content from right click protected webpages.
