How to Disable Images in Google Chrome?
Below is a step by step guide on how you can block images from displaying on webpages.
- First open Chrome browser on your computer and open the settings page. There are three options to access the Chrome settings page:
- By clicking the customization menu icon represented by three dots located at the top of the browser on the right-hand side. Then select “Settings” from the menu options.
- Using the keyboard shortcut – press “Alt + F” keys, then click “Settings”.

- Scroll down to the bottom of settings page and click “Advanced” to expand the settings options.
- Under the “Privacy and security” settings, look for and click “Content settings”.
- On the content settings page, click the arrow for the “Images” heading.
- To disable images for all websites, turn off the “Show all” switch.
- You may want to allow or block images from specific websites. In order to block, click “Add” button above the “Block” heading, copy and paste or type the URL for the site you want to block in the resulting dialog box. Then click the “Add” button on the dialog window.
- To allow a given site to display images in Chrome, click the “Add” button against “Allow” heading, type the URL and click “Add”.
- Blocked and allowed websites will be listed under “Blocked” and “Allowed” sections respectively.
Disable Images Using Chrome Extensions
There are a number of Chrome extensions that allow Google Chrome users to disable images from websites. Some of the popular options include:
1. Images ON/OFF Chrome Extension
- To add the extension, visit the Chrome Web store and under the “Extension” category search for Images ON/OFF extension.
- Click the “Add to Chrome” link and when prompt pop-up appears, select “Add extension”.
- To disable or enable images on a specific page, open the page, then click on the extension icon on the tool bar. This will block or enable images even for future visits to the particular page.
2. Block Image Chrome Extension
Block Image is a useful extension that enables Chrome users to block both images and videos.
- To add this extension, search for “Block Image” from Chrome web store and click the “Add to Chrome” button.
- Click “Add extension” when prompted. The extension’s icon will be added in the browser’s tool bar. Click on the icon to enable/disable images.
