1.1. Enter Site URL
Enter the complete and correct URL of your site. You should be owner of the site in order to edit the source code later to insert the ad code.
- Generally the domain name is what Google will look for. Hence, entering “mysite.com” or “www.mysite.com” is sufficient. You can also enter the complete URL like “https://www.mysite.com”.
- Do not enter the page URL os your site like “mysites.com/about”.
- Do not enter the subdirectory or subdomain names for approval.

Ensure your site does not show ads from another AdSense account.
1.2. Help and Performance Suggestions
Select whether you want Google to send you customized notifications. This will enable you to receive product updates and AdWords coupon codes in your email address. You can change the settings later from your account.
1.3. Choose Country
Here you should be careful in choosing the correct country. Remember you can’t change the country of the account later. This will affect the payment method associated with your account.
After the approval of your application, you will be paid according to the country you have chosen. It is not possible to change the country from your AdSense account.
1.4. Review the Terms
We recommend you to read the terms before applying and understand the conditions. These terms are different than those AdSense policies.
Once filled the required details, click on “Submit” and send the application.
2. Activating AdSense Account
Once the application is submitted, you will be able to login to your AdSense account. At this stage, you can’t display advertisements on your site. Here you need to do three steps to activate your site before going to next step.
- Verify your site with Google – login to your AdSense account and get the ad code and insert between the <head>…..</head> sections of your site. It will look something like below on the source code of your site:
<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-123456789"
Other header content
- Complete payment address and other payment related information required.
- Verify your phone number – if you have already verified number under your Google account then you can use the same number for AdSense verification also. You will get a six digits code as a SMS message or you can verify through a voice call.
Note that Google displays no ads or blank ads until the final approval is completed hence you may not generate revenue at this point of time.
3. Review and Acceptance
During review process, Google checks your site and account details submitted by you. If you log in to your AdSense account during this time a red alert banner will be showing mentioning the account is still under review. After Google makes the final approval and informs you through an email, you can see Google ads automatically start appearing in your site. If your application is rejected, ensure to understand the reason for rejection and rectify the error before applying again.
4. Fully Activated Account
Your AdSense account will get fully activated when your application is accepted. After this you will be able to create more ad units and insert on your pages. You can also add additional sites complaint with AdSense policies under the same account subject to further approval from Google for each site.
5. Displaying Ads on Your Site
Currently Google does not have any limitations on number of ads on a page. However, you need to display ads on the pages that are complying with AdSense policies. Generate the ad code for different ad units and paste in appropriate places on your pages. You can try A/B testing or use plugins for WordPress site to insert ads in feed and between content. If you don’t have time for creating manual ad units and inserting on proper places, you can enable auto ads to automatically show advertisements using Google’s Artificial Intelligence technology. This can save you lot of time and you can focus on other website tasks instead of optimizing ad placement.
6. Get Payment from Google
The minimum payment limit for AdSense publishers is $100. You can set this limit to higher if you want to accumulate the earnings. Google has a fixed payment schedule that every month around 21st you will get the payment when the account balance exceeds the threshold.
