AdSense Publishers Guidelines – Dos and Don’ts
Making money with Google AdSense is the reliable way of converting your site into an online revenue generator. After approved for AdSense, webmasters generally fall in the trap of following illegal activities to increase earnings and got banned for lifetime. Read AdSense Policies and Terms
As is with every company’s or program’s terms and conditions, Google also has a big list of policies and terms for AdSense publisher’s worth to go through before applying for AdSense. Most of the webmasters do not even read those terms and come to know the importance after the account is being disabled. For example, pages with AdSense ads should not receive traffic from free traffic exchanges or any other means of artificial traffic for that matter.
Avoid Invalid Clicks
This is the most important trap for webmasters trying to generate quicker revenue. Some of the invalid activities include:
- Clicking own ads
- Request someone to click
- Use bots to inflate the clicks
- Using proxy for clicking
- Using multiple computers / IP addresses
- Use click network exchanges
The revenue from CPM ads depends on the ad impression generated from page views; hence avoid using rotator or any other means of inflating page views.
AdSense ad code should not be placed on email communication to users. Sending a spam email or spamming through instant messaging services for inflating traffic will lead to banning your account. Also avoid displaying ads on empty pages, registration forms, contact us page, Sitemap, privacy and login pages. Pop-up and pop-under ads are also prohibited by AdSense.
It is better to display the ads blending along with your content or use correct words like “advertisements” or “sponsored link”. Using arrow marks to indicate the ads, using “click here” or “check out this” kind of phrases are not allowed as per AdSense policies.
Once you get the approval, AdSense ad codes can be placed any number of sites (up to 500 authorized sites) complying policies and terms. Placing ad code on any single page not complying will result in unfavorable actions like disabling ads for that particular site or banning the account. Google prefers organic traffic from search engines than other traffic. Ensure to follow the acceptable ways for promoting your site and avoid using any unnatural way of generating artificial traffic to your site.
