Flight tracking apps are popular in App Store but you don’t need to have one. The best way to track your flights is to use the default Notes app in iPhone. Just open “Notes” app in your iPhone and edit or create a new note. Enter your flight number, for example LH317 and tap on “Done”.
You can enter the flight numbers in different ways like LH317 (without space) or LH 317 (with space) or LH#317. After tapping “Done”, your iPhone will automatically insert an underline to identify this as a code of a flight number. Tap on the flight number link and choose “Preview Flight” option. The latest iOS model will show the “Preview Flight” as a dropdown along with an option to copy the flight code. On earlier iOS versions, you will see the option is showing on the bottom of the screen.
You can see the map along with all the details of the flight like departing time, arriving time and flight duration. Look under the “Status” to see the live status of your flight whether it is on time or delayed.
Note: Nowadays, you will see “Flight information not available” for most of the flights due to pandemic situation. In such a case, make sure to confirm with your travel agent or booking agency regarding the latest situation.

In such case, just open Safari app and go to Google. Type in the flight number and search. Google will show the live flight status like below. You can even get the terminal, gate number and check the status of flights availability on nearby dates.
If Google is not accessible on your location you can do similar flight status search with Bing. Go to Bing, type in the flight number and search. Bing will show the flight status like below along with the details like from which terminal/gate the flight is started and in which terminal/gate the flight is arriving.
Note that instead of accessing Google or Bing websites, you can also use Google Search and Bing Search iOS apps for tracking your flight status.
