Some Points to Note
Though we call it as God Mode, it is just a reference name. You can use any name for the folder instead of the GodMode text. For example, all the below names will create the same Master Control Panel.
- Panel.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
- TestPanel.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
- MasterPanel.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
However, you should use some text before the dot in the folder name; otherwise, Windows will throw an error showing “You must type a file name”. In addition, below are some facts on the God Mode folder:
- After creating the panel, you cannot rename the folder. It will not show any name and show empty when you press F2 for renaming. Windows will not accept if you type different name, though there will be no error thrown.
- You can create multiple folders to create many Master Control Panels.
- It is not possible to create new folder or save file inside the Master Control Panel section.
- You can delete the panels any time when you no longer need it.
Caution When Using
Well, you should be careful in not renaming any existing folder with content with the God Mode file name. Windows will not stop and change the existing folder to a master control panel. In this case, the icon will still show like normal folder icon. However, all existing content inside the folder will disappear. Though, you can see the files and folders in Windows Search, you will not be able to access them as the parent folder will open Master Control Panel and you can’t rename it.
You can press “Control + Z” to undo this action immediately to change the folder name and retrieve the content. Windows will refresh the desktop and show the old folder name with content.

Control Panel Vs God Mode Master Control Panel
When comparing with God Mode and default Control Panel, you will be surprised to see there will be no differences. In fact, Control Panel has a Configuration Manager that is not available in God Mode. Technically, God Mode is the same way of accessing Control Panel using the Global Unique Identifier (GUID) key. Windows assigns a Global Unique Identifier key for applications, which you can see in the registry editor.
- Press “Win Logo + R” keys to open Run prompt.
- Type regedit and hit enter to registry editor.
- Navigate to “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\” section.
- For Control Panel, you can see the GUID as {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}.
- We used this key in the name for creating the God Mode folder with the syntax as “name.key”.
- It derives all the tasks of Control Panel as assigned in the registry editor.
You can navigate around in the registry editor and find similar GUID keys for My Computer, Recycle Bin, File Explorer, etc. Similar to God Mode folder, you can create replicated interface of these functions by creating a folder name with “name.key” format.
In addition, Master Control Panel or God Mode will be useful only if the option was previously enabled. Otherwise, you will be taken back to default Control Panel for enabling the settings. For example, click on the “Restore your files with Files History” option under “File History” section in Master Control Panel. If you did not enable File History before, you have to head back to default Control Panel to setup this. Therefore, you can use the God Mode only if you like the interface. Otherwise, default Control Panel is good to handle your work. This is applicable if you are creating
