Enable Math Solver in Microsoft Edge
Many Windows users do not know that Microsoft Edge browser offers cool features like Math Solver. You can use this to solve algebra, trigonometry or any other complex math problems and get step-by-step instructions. Follow the below steps to enable the tool and start using in Edge:
- Open Edge browser and click on the three horizontal “Settings and more” icon showing on the top right corner. Alternatively, press “Alt + F” keys to open the menu.
- Click on the “Settings” menu to go to Edge settings page.
- Go to “Appearance” section and scroll down on the right pane.
- Find “Math Solver Button” option under “Show which buttons to show on the toolbar” and turn on the switch.

Click on the Math Solver icon in the toolbar will show a sidebar in Edge. You will see few information slides and click on “Skip” or navigate to the last slide. There are two ways to use Math Solver in Edge browser.

Selecting and Solving Math Problems
You can use “Select math problem” option to select a math equation on the webpage and get the step-by-step solution instructions. Alternatively, you can also type the equation in text box like Bing search box and get the solution for that. When you select the math equation, you will see a small Math Solver button showing as “Solve”. Click on that “Solve” button to view the results on the sidebar.
Math Solver will show a quick solution for the equation showing the answer. If you want to view the details, click “View solution steps” button. This will show each step with an explanation which is useful for students to understand how the solution is derived.
Scroll down the solution section to find more details like graph, recommended videos and a link to share or view the solution on the web.
Click “Copy” button to copy the link to clipboard, open a new tab and paste the link to view its content. This will open Math Solver webpage showing the details of your math equation and solution. This is useful for students to share the solution with other students and teachers can send the link to all students explaining the steps to find a solution for any complex mathematical problems.
Use Math Keyboard in Edge
If you do not want to select a problem from the webpage, then it is also possible to use the in-built Math Calculator tool to get solutions. Click the “Math Solver” icon from Edge toolbar and then select “Type math problem” button to open a calculator.
It is also possible to add additional inputs to the problem that you have selected from a webpage. To do this, click on “Math keyboard” button showing below the problem text box and change the selected problem.
Finally, press enter key or click the “Solve” button in the calculator to get the solution.
