Weebly offers unlimited number of pages with no limit in the size for free users and with no ads. This is one of the simple reason why free users choose Weebly for building their sites. Each page in your Weebly site can be customized to suit your requirement and can be different from other pages in the same site. All options relevant to page settings are available under “Pages” tab in the Weebly editor. This article explains various Weebly page settings options to build and effectively promote your Weebly pages in search engines.
Adding Pages to Your Site
Add more pages to your site under “Pages” tab and Weebly offers four basic type of Page Layouts when you create a new page.
- Tall Header Image
- Small Header Image
- No Header Image
- Landing Page
You can choose your page layout to adjust the content and header image area and each page can have different layouts. You can add a standard page, a blog, a store, a product page and an external link.
Under page layout selection you can select the check box for hiding your page in the navigation menu and setting a password for your page. You can also copy the complete page with content to a new page or delete the page from your site.
Weebly Page Layouts
In addition to the four standard page layouts offered by Weebly you can add a splash page and other layouts. Choose “Edit HTML/CSS” option available under Design tab to add a new page layout of your own as shown below:
If you want to create a sub- pages in the navigation menu like “Home > Blog > Forum” then you can just drag the Blog and Forum pages to right side and these pages will automatically become sub page of your Home page.
After publishing it will work like a mouse over function, once you move your mouse over Home tab then Blog tab will get extended and then Forum will get extended. This drop down can be horizontal or vertical based on your theme selection.
Drag and move the page up or down to sort your pages in the navigation menu.
Advanced Page Settings
The advanced settings provide various options at page level to optimize your pages for search engines. Page titles and description entered here which will be shown in the search engine result pages. You can add analytics tracking code in the footer code section and Webmaster Tools verification code in the header code section. You can also hide your page from search engine by enabling the check box “Hide this page from search engines”.
Hello! I am having so many problems with my weebly starter.
1.My sub pages are not showing up in search engines. I have installed web waster tools, changed h2 to h1 tags for blogs. Still no luck?
2. Is there a related content widget for weebly? I havn’t found one!
3. When I add categories to my blog posts, like dessert sub page for recipes it links back to the same page. It should show all the dessert pages of my site. How to do that?
4. I am thinking about switching to wordpress because of these problems but I don’t know html or css. Is it a good option? wordpress or weebly which one is safer from hackers?
1. Paste the complete URL in the search box and check whether it is showing in the results.
2. Use external services like AddThis, Outbrain, etc.
3. Category should link to category archive page, looks you are missing something here.
4. If you are looking wordpress.com then both are in similar category. If you are looking wordpress.org then you need to invest plenty of time.
Wha can we do with the “main” page when we create sub pages so that they are not blank in case somebody clicks on it by mistake.
You can make the main page not clickable by adding CSS, check out this article – https://www.webnots.com/make-top-level-navigation-menu-not-clickable-in-weebly/.
Hope it helps.
I really hope you can help. On weebly I have a landing page and another 3 pages created as blogs. I would like that every time we post a new article on the blog pages to get an update on the landing page automatically in a ‘New Posts’ section. Would that be possible?
Thanks in advance
You can use feed reader element to do this. Also you can burn blog feed with feedburner or any other feed readers and embed the feed to show latest posts.
Weebly did this months ago but your account preceded the date on which their policy changed, like mine apparently did, you can add new websites to your grandfathered account and still have no page limit.
I wanted a new account for an organization to which I belong because I didn’t want their new website to be on my account since eventually there would be a new ‘webmaster’. So, I have set them up with a free Wix account which still has no page limit, I believe, although there is a storage limit.
Did you try with adding editors to a site under your account? As a free user you can invite others to maintain your site as an administrator. Please refer this article on editor permission settings.
one of the feature i like most about weebly is its unlimited page and easy to use.
Weebly has restricted the page limit to 5 for free account and 10 for starter account, so not much useful if you want to build a big content site.
