If you are an Android user, you may already know Emoji Kitchen feature which is part of Gboard keyboard. It allows you to combine any two standard Unicode emojis and create a custom one. Now that Google brought that feature to iPhone users as well you can create custom emoji stickers right from Google Search on the web.
Using Emoji Kitchen in Google Search
Open google.com and search for “emoji kitchen”.
You will see an emoji palette along with “Get Cooking” button and click on that button.
This will open a list of emojis along with a panel showing options to add any two emojis from the list.
- Click “Clear all” button to remove the preselected emojis. After that, click the first emoji box in the panel and select any of your favorite item from the list. Similarly click on the second emoji box and then select an item from the list. Emoji Kitchen will automatically combine the two selected emojis and show the result.
- Click the copy icon showing below the result to copy the custom emoji to your clipboard.
- Now you can paste the copied image on any supported website or app.
Creating Random Emojis
You can have fun by randomly combining any two emojis from the list. Click the dice icon showing below the first and second emoji box to randomly select an item in that box. Alternatively, click the “Randomize” button to automatically select and combine two emojis. You will be surprised to see the beautiful and funny combined emojis.
Using Combined Emoji
Google will save each combined emoji as a sticker with unique URL. So, instead of copying to clipboard, you can also get the permanent URL of the combined emoji sticker. Simply right-click on the custom emoji created and select “Copy Image Address” option to copy the URL.
Open a new tab, paste the URL in the address bar and press enter key. You will see a high-resolution emoji as a sticker image. As you can see, the custom emoji sticker is stored in gstatic.com site under /android/keyboard/emojikitchen section. You can anytime grab your custom emoji sticker from the copied URL.
In addition to copying image URL, you can do the followings from the right-click menu:
- Open the sticker in new tab (using this option also you can copy sticker URL from the address bar)
- Copy the emoji sticker image.
- Save the image as a PNG file. The file name will be the combination of Unicode codepoints of the two selected emojis like u1f979_u1f49e.png.
- Create a QR code for the custom emoji and share with others.
- Search the emoji using Google Lens to find related images on the web.
Limitations of Emoji Kitchen in Google Search
Though Emoji Kitchen is a cool way to create fun filled and custom emoji stickers, it does not have all 3300+ Unicode emoji. The list will show 230+ emojis in Google Search which you can use to create 40K+ combinations of custom emojis. Other problem is that you can’t paste the copied emoji in Chrome’s address bar or even in the Google Search box as it is a sticker image. You can still paste the sticker in apps like Word or social/messaging apps like Messages in Mac.
