Stop Entire Word Selection in Word Windows
- Open Microsoft Word app and go to “File > Options” menu.

- Go to “Advanced” tab and check under “Editing options” section.
- Uncheck “When selecting, automatically select entire word” option.
- Click “OK” button to close the “Word Options” pop-up.

Stop Entire Word Selection in Word for Mac
- Launch Microsoft Word for Mac app and go to “Word > Preferences…” menu.

- This will open “Word Preferences” dialog and click on “Edit” icon.

- Uncheck “Select entire word when selecting text” option under “Editing Options” section.

After disabling the option, you can select text easily and Word will not automatically select the word.
