Jetpack plugin in WordPress comes with many features some of them are enabled by default and some of them are not. Default activation of features may vary depends on whether you installed WordPress directly or moved your site from local server. This may cause much confusion especially when you want to troubleshoot some problem on your site. Since you did not activate, it is difficult for you to find the problem is from Jetpack’s features, which were activated by default.
One such thing is the new comment and blog post follow-up notification displayed under Jetpack comments box on a published site. When you enhanced your default WordPress commenting system with the one offered by Jetpack , the comments box will appear like below:
As you see there are two notification options:
- Notify me of follow-up comments by email.
- Notify me of new posts via email.
You may want to disable these notifications as it may flood commenter’s inbox with lot of information, which he may not be needed regularly. For example, you may prefer user to subscribe your blog post through a dedicated newsletter subscription instead of subscribing here.
How to Disable WordPress Jetpack Comments Notifications?
It’s really a hard guess that these notifications are not part of “Jetpack Comments” features but coming from “Jetpack Subscriptions” plugin. When you are in WordPress admin dashboard, navigate to “Settings > Discussion”. Scroll down to the section “Jetpack Subscriptions Settings” to see these notifications are enabled on your site.
You can uncheck one or both checkboxes to disable the new comment and new post notification in comments box. Save your changes and check the comments box on your published site, notifications must have been remove by now.
If you are not using “Post by Email” subscription then you can just disable “Subscriptions” feature from “Jetpack > Subscriptions > Deactivate”.
