Weebly offers lot of elements that you can add to the header, footer and content area of your site. Text element is the way to add paragraphs on a Weebly page and is grouped under “Basic” category in site editor. You can drag and drop it on the content area similar to any other element. It is also easy to format the text with additional options and change the font used in your Weebly site.

Once you drag and drop a text element in the content area, click on the element to see a pop-up.
Weebly Text Formatting and Customizing Options
The text element pop-up offers the following formatting and customizing options for you.
- Bold, Italic and Underline
- Increase or decrease text size
- Change font color
- Creating hyperlink
- Left, right, center and justify alignment
- Ordered and unordered list
Redo and Undo
The last two arrow buttons in the options popup are used to undo and redo the changes. This is very useful especially when you editing the content online.
Remove Formatting
Assume you increase the font size and then change the color of the text. Now that the text may look completely different than the default text. In case if you want to revert back all the formatting changes just click on the “Remove Formatting” button to convert the text to default style.
Creating List
By default Weebly allows you to create ordered and unordered list. Ordered list items will have numerical list type and unordered list items will have disc list type. Learn more on how to add custom lists for your Weebly site.
Creating Hyperlinks
One of the important aspects of using text element is to link the content on other pages. Select the text and click on the link icon to create a hyperlink.
You can link the text to any of the page on your site, external pages, file and email address. Clicking on the file link will start downloading the linked file and clicking on the email link will open the default email client on your computer with the linked email address in “To” text box. Customizing Fonts
The default options pop-up allow you to change the color and size of the text content. But the problem is the changes will be effective only for that element and using another text element will create a text with default styles. Also you can’t change the font family and line height of text elements on the page. Weebly makes it simple to change the font styles throughout your site without modifying the source CSS.
Navigate to “Theme > Change Font > General” and move mouse over the “Paragraph Text”. All text element on the page will be highlighted as shown in the below picture:
Click on the “Paragraph Text” under “General” section to see more options to customize the font styles. The changes you make here will be effective on all the text elements site wide.
Here are the styling options available to have appealing fonts for your text elements:
- Font family – choose the desired font family from hundreds of different fonts from the dropdown.
- Style – change the style from the dropdown and the available options are default, normal, bold, italic, bold & italic.
- Color – choose the font color from the color pallet.
- Uppercase – you can switch on the uppercase option to convert all paragraph text to capital letter.
- Letter Spacing – choose the desired value from -3 to 5.
- Line Height – change the height between the text lines.
Click on the “Reset” link to remove all the changes and reset the paragraph text to default style. Any changes made will be effective immediately without the need of saving and can be previewed on the content area.
By default, Weebly does not offer a way to add background to text elements. However, you can create a beautiful text box with background in Weebly using custom CSS.
