- 16 digits random number.
Where to Find the Publisher ID?
The publisher ID can be found in the ad unit whenever you generate the ad code:

Revenue Consolidation Based on Publisher ID
Since each ad unit is linked to a publisher ID, the clicks on the unit can easily be accrued under that ID. The accrued revenue from different ad units will be accumulated to the linked AdSense account of the publisher. Google will deduct the revenue sharing portion and pay the remaining amount to the publisher.
Issues Due to Transparency
The flip side is that the ad code on a site can be viewed just by viewing the source code of any web page displaying AdSense ads. Any one can get your publisher id easily by right clicking and viewing the source of your web page. This may lead to misuse of a publisher ID without the permission of the owner. Misusing publisher’s id can lead to the following problems:
- Someone can display your ads on site which is not in compliance with AdSense policies.
- You account may get banned due to invalid clicks.
- Advertisers may get charged by Google for clicks generated through invalid traffic.
Protecting Your Publisher ID
In order to avoid charging advertisers wrongly and to protect publisher’s ownership Google recommend publishers to claim the ownership of websites displaying ads with their publisher ID. Login to your AdSense account and navigate to account settings. Click on the “Manage sites” option under “My sites” and add your site displaying ads. The verified sites will be displayed as a list under “Managed sites” section.
Ad Display on Unverified Sites
Verifying your sites will not stop someone to show your ads on inappropriate sites without your permission. But when Google detects ads are displayed on unverified domain, you will see a notification message under your AdSense account. The message will also the domain name to help you who was displaying your ads. If it is your site then you can verify the domain and confirm Google that you are the publisher. If it is not your domain you can leave it without verifying.
The clicks accrued on the claimed sites will be paid to you and the clicks on the unverified sites will NOT be paid to you. Google will continue to show ads on the unverified sites and AdSense reports will show the number of clicks including unverified sites. But the payment will only be done for the clicks from the verified sites.
